- The Summit!
John, using the term or verb “jaunt” anywhere near K2 or regarding the Karakorum range seems either crazy or poetic. Is the altitude affecting you? Haha! Thanks for keeping us up to date. Love, Dad
It definitely is at this point. In all fairness, it was a “jaunt” compared to the other climbing. Everything is relative, right??
I hope you get some real food when you return to Base Camp. Maybe a tasty buffalo steak. I was kind of feeling guilty when you were describing your freeze-dried meals while I was eating some of your mom’s very tasty shrimp dip. Doesn’t that sound good?
Thanks for rubbing it in but I actually think that you would enjoy the buffalo! That being said, I sure do miss guacamole, nachos, beer, ribs, burgers, and beer.
I have eaten buffalo/bison, several times. The bison was the best, but not nearly as tasty as that Spencer steak I had the other night at Jocko’s in Nipomo. Yum! I’ll buy you one the next time we are in Pismo at the same time.
I am anxiously awaiting your return to Basecamp…the closest thing to home in Pakistan!
Sending lots of love your way!
Mom
John
May GOD be with you and your team and protect you on all of your jaunts.
A question, you took a “jaunt” a Little way above C2, what do you call the the climb from C4 to the summit?
Something between a “haul” and an “epic”. Hopefully, it’s short of an “epic” because that means that you just barely survived. Just a little intro to mountain lingo hah!
Are you on speakerphone? The sound quality is really bad. Might want to let Verizon know they need a tower up there. Good luck! I’ll have the IPA, Rosé and all the tacos you can eat for your return.
Sorry about the poor sound quality, I’ll have to talk to my satellite people and see if they can move the satellites directly over the mountain. Gosh, I need a taco…
Hey Buddy.
Sending you some encouragement from Singapore!
Thanks, Kelvin! Glad you are following along!
